Healthcare

Maintaining good health and gaining access to healthcare are difficult issues for the poor and homeless.

Manna House provides workshops on good hygiene and on maintaining good health. In collaboration with partner agencies we provide on site screening for a variety of conditions and also provide referrals for health care as needed. Case Managers follow up with clients to facilitate compliance.

Manna House works collaboratively with several medical facilities in the City.  As of January 2017, Healthcare for the Homeless sends a mobile clinic to Manna House weekly.  These all day visits allow clients to receive on site healthcare and referrals for appropriate specialists.

Manna House provides for needy people in a variety of ways: a feeding program that serves hot meals every day of the year; a place for hot showers, with toiletries provided; health screening for blood pressure, HIV/STD’s and some forms of cancer; assistance in obtaining housing; case management to assist in applying for benefits; a day shelter where homeless can access services in a safe environment; and a Renewal Center that distributes donated clothing.
At present, a group of volunteers from St. Mark’s helps serve breakfast each month and has participated through the years by volunteering, donating items, and providing financial support to Manna House.
